Delivery of Care
Our goal at Wright Pediatric Dentistry is to deliver efficient and quality care. We understand that your time is important and we will make every effort to stay on time. It is important that every caregiver understands that each child responds to dental treatment differently and thus may require more or less time to complete treatment. We attempt to schedule accordingly for every child’s needs, but sometimes due to emergency situations or unexpected behavioral problems this may not be possible. These situations require extra care and time. If this occurs we ask for your patience as your child will be given the same attention and care.
We understand that sometimes emergencies happen. If your child should require emergency treatment during office hours we will make every effort to treat them in a timely fashion. After hours the doctor can be reached using the emergency number given below.
Tongue and Lip Ties
Tongue ties have to do with a small band of tissue that tethers the tongue too tightly to the floor of the mouth. In infants this can hinder the tongue from reaching their palate which is necessary for proper latch while breast feeding. Lip ties, most commonly the upper lip, also have to do with a band of tissue that tethers the lip and limits proper flange which can also hinder proper latch. For older individuals with a tongue or lip tie, speech and hindrance of proper oral hygiene are some of the symptoms.
At Wright Pediatric Dentistry we prefer to complete dental procedures in the least invasive manner possible. Most children are able to complete treatment with nitrous oxide and local anesthetic, but some require higher levels of sedation. Generally, these patients are either very young, have a special need, or have extreme dental anxiety. In addition, some children simply require a lot of dental work and multiple visits may turn a cooperative child into a fearful or anxious one. For these children sedation dentistry provides a relatively safe and effective way to treat dental decay.
Wright Pediatric Dentistry offers several different methods of sedation in order to individualize treatment for each and every child. We utilize appropriately trained staff and healthcare professionals as well as current monitoring techniques designed to keep your child safe. The following methods of sedation are available to each patient dependent on their specific needs:
- Nitrous Oxide Sedation
- Oral or Mild/Moderate Sedation
- Intravenous (IV) or Deep Sedation
- General Anesthesia
We’re always hear to listen to your concerns and provide you with all the info you need to make an informed decision regarding your child’s dental care.
